Here are some happy children enjoying their dinner cooked over the fire. Yum!

The men attending to the all important hot dogs...

We all made it inside just before this downpour began. We had been hearing thunder, and the radar wasn't looking good. Before we knew it, we were under a thunderstorm warning with 60 mile per hour winds. At one point, we took the kids to an inner basement room due to the debris flying toward the house.
The tents didn't fare too well...ours blew up against the house (better than into the lake, I suppose) and the other two had problems with their rain covers.

Here we see two men drenched from head to toe after chasing/caring for the tents they had worked so hard to put up not that much earlier. Can you believe they are still smiling?

It continued to rain the rest of the evening so we made the best of it by playing inside. For whatever reason, Malik enjoys playing with Chloe's huge doll house. Greg was a bit concerned about this doll. I believe he said something like, "I think she had a rough night. She even came home topless!"

We tried to salvage some smores by making them in the microwave. The kids didn't seem to mind.

Since the tents weren't available, the guys and kids slept in the house (Beth and I took our little guys to our own homes to sleep). Chloe was pretty excited that Malik and Greg slept on the full size bottom bunk in her room. Breakfast was great the next morning. It was still sprinkling a bit so the boating plans for the morning were scratched as well. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative next year!
