Our dear friends, Terry and Steve, were disappointed that they would be out of town when we were going to be having Malik's birthday party at our house, so they threw an early party for him at their home. The theme was "The Lone Ranger." We were told to dress appropriately and to 'bring a horse.'
Here is Malik in his cowboy gear. Apparently, if you don't own cowboy boots you should just substitute rain boots-
Terry and Steve also invited some other friends who had a child celebrating a birthday. We had met before and Malik has played before with their oldest son, Zach, who is 7. It was fun to get to spend the evening with them as well.
For some entertainment, Tyler and Jamie also came. Tyler grew up on a ranch in Nebraska and spent some time showing us roping tricks, his saddle, and answered questions about what it's like to be on a ranch. The kids thought it was great and Tyler has some pretty good moves!
For some reason, Denise and I were the only ones who were willing to put on the mustache tattoos, I can't figure out why that was.
Anyway, you always need a bad guy-
We enjoyed a chuck wagon dinner out of tin plates:
and baked S'mores for dessert-
I wouldn't mess with this crew-
Of course, Lone Ranger Legos were an appropriate gift-
Elias kept holding up this gun and in his deepest voice possible would say, "Don't mess with me!"
We played several games, including a 'cattle round-up' where the boys had to find small pictures of cows that had been hidden all over the house. There were 100 in total. Steve paid them in coins for each one they found-
