We attended a book bash at the library this morning, celebrating the book, "If you give a pig a pancake." They had lots of activities for the kids to do and we even got to bring a copy of the book home. There was a life-sized live version of the pig from the book (i.e., someone dressed in the costume). Malik wasn't sure what to think of it. He was happy to wave from the safe distance of about 5 feet while keeping a tight grip on my finger. This is in contrast to his little friend who was also there who gave the pig at least 6 hugs and cried when the pig went to take a break!

This was as close as Malik would get to the real ones as well. He wasn't so sure once the squealing began!
His favorite activity was searching for little animals in the corn (good Iowa boy!)

I agree with Malik, grown-person-sized "animals" are a bit of a deterrent!
