The Zoo

We spent a day visiting the Houston Zoo. It was Malik's first trip to a zoo and he had a great time. "See more animals?" was the favorite question of the day.

No outing could be complete without at least one moment of trauma, right? Ours occurred while we were looking at the monkeys. They had a nice elevated (probably 10 feet off the ground) wooden walkway that took you by all of the monkeys, who were a good 15 feet away behind some nice nets. Malik decided to sit down on the walkway and stuck his feet under the railing. During my attempt to help him up, he kicked off his shoe and down it fell to the ground (at least 10 feet below)!

Thankfully, we were able to find a nice zoo keeper, who despite obviously not really wanting to, crawled through the brush and retrieved the shoe for us. Thank you, zoo keeper!
