On the morning of Monday the 17th we headed out from Branson to make our way to Spring, Texas to visit my Uncle Kent, Aunt Betsy, and my grandma ('Great-grandma Virginia').
The map made it seem like it would be an easy, although long, drive through Arkansas and down the eastern side of Texas. Instead, we found the first two hours of the trip to include never-ending up and down hills and hairpin turns. The scenery was beautiful but poor Malik was in misery with his motion sickness and it was so bad that Greg even began to feel it as well. It made for a not-so-great beginning of a very long day. Greg swears that he'll be looking at topographical maps from now on. After about 12 hours we finally arrived.
The boys had some money from Christmas that they hadn't spent yet, probably because they didn't know about it. We let them order some new Lego sets to work on during our time in Texas. It really was like Christmas all over for them.
They were happy to show off their creations to great-grandma.
The weather was so beautiful, I would have been happy to stay for weeks. Visiting this local park for a picnic and a chance to feed the ducks has almost become a tradition for us. We were so glad that grandma could join us!
A few thumb wars occurred-
The mean, hovering, seagulls wanted to steal all of the bread from the ducks. They'd swoop down and peck the poor ducks on the head. Once enough ducks showed up the seagulls left. Power in numbers, I suppose.
