We left for our vacation on Saturday, June 23rd. As usual, the boys did a great job during the 9 1/2 hour drive despite Elias only napping for 40 minutes and Malik not at all. Everyone was excited to spend a few days at Grandpa Dave and Grandma Connie's house in Indiana.
We started off the fun on Sunday with a trip to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. We arrived at 10:30 and didn't leave until 4:30. Pretty much we were there the entire time it was open that day. Needless to say, it's an enormous place. We were able to meet Courtney (Connie's daughter) and her family there, including Kennedy (age 6) and new baby Hannah. Kennedy and Malik always enjoy spending time together.
They had a neat dinosaur exhibit. The boys weren't all that thrilled with how real-sounding it was but did have fun 'digging' for bones and some of the other hands-on activities.
The highlight for Malik was the current Lego exhibit. There were amazing structures built by Lego Master Builders (seriously? what a great job!) and areas to do your own building.
There was also this great car made out of Duplo blocks that you could actually sit in. Malik even donned a racing costume to make the picture as realistic as possible!
The other current exhibit was "Hot Wheels". It was pretty cool, too. There were actual cars made to look like different Hot Wheel Models (this is where all of the men over age 40 could be found staring and drooling!) and lots of places for the kids to race cars on Hot Wheel ramps.
