Those of you who know Malik well know that he is a lover of Legos. He desperately wanted the Lego Police Station that has somewhere around 780 pieces. It's a rather large set to say the least. We struck a deal with him that if he could save up 1/2 of the cost (about $40) from his chore money that we would cover the other 1/2.
After many, many months of not spending one dime on anything else, ("Are you sure you want to buy candy at the store? It'll take longer to get your Lego set."...."Oh, right. I'll wait.") he finally had enough money. We're really proud of how patient he was and how he never lost sight of his goal. I could learn a lesson here in delayed gratification!
