Groupon ran a deal a while ago on 1/2 price tickets to the Des Moines Science Center. We hadn't ever been there, so it seemed like a good time to try it out for the first time. Grandma Phyllis came to help me with the boys for the trip last Thursday.
This area was Malik's favorite. It consisted of three different conveyor belt systems that were ran with a crank handle. The goal was to move play food from one end to the other. It was one of the first things we saw. The only way I was able to convince Malik to go to the other areas of the center was to promise we would return again before we left.
Experimenting with air pressure that shot balls and foam pieces into the air-
One of the Des Moines news stations, WHO-13, has a weather center set up at the Science station. They broadcast the noon weather report from there every weekday. The boys had a great time experimenting with the green screen. They were able to see themselves on a t.v. and thought it was so funny that if they held a green scarf in front of themselves that they would disappear.
They had an opportunity to be on the news during the noon weather forecast. As is typical, they did not want to participate but were happy to watch others instead.
No trip, well, anywhere, would be complete without Legos!
